Pieter Douma
Pieter Douma is a bass player who tries to combine the low-end aspects of bassplaying with the solo approach to the bass. This results in a very melodic style of playing. His bass parts can be heard on several CD releases, among which is Blowbeat., the debut album of a group by the same name with which he toured through Europe for a few years. Pieter is also associated with a number of projects, such as film scores, studio gigs, clinics, etc. As a bass teacher he works at the conservatories of Arnhem and Rotterdam, Holland. Pieter has been interviewed by leading Dutch music magazines like Music Maker and Oor ("If you've got nothing, nothing will come out "). His current activities concentrate on rhythm and blues. As one of the Headhunters in Blue Lou and the Headhunters, Pieter Douma released an album that got great reviews. Bluesharpplayer Guy Forsyth gave an extra dimension to this recording. As a sideman Pieter has worked with, among others, Dr. John.
